What is Uterine Prolapse?

Uterine prolapse also referred to as "prolapsed uterus," is a serious medical condition in which a woman's uterus slips or "falls" from its normal, higher position in her pelvic floor.

The uterus sometimes falls far enough down from its normal position that it drops into the vagina creating a bulge. This is called an "incomplete prolapse."

In serious cases, the uterus falls so far out of place that the falls or protrudes outside of the vagina. This is then referred to as a "complete prolapse of the uterus."
